Job Description:

The Field Mechanical Engineer works closely with Superintendents/Supervisors and Project Engineer to support field work execution. This requires review of drawing packages, work scope and bill of materials to ensure that field crews can efficiently execute work. This requires self-motivation to work ahead of the crew work schedule.

The Field Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the following functions:

Material Reconciliations – review drawings and scope to ensure materials ordered are sufficient and correct for the project. Prepare requisitions for shortages and corrections.

Pipe Insulation Bills of Material – prepare material take offs for pipe insulation material.

Lift Plans - rigging plan preparation for crane lifts using company's field developed procedures and client's forms and procedures. On-site staff will train candidate in this activity. Beneficial related experience includes basic knowledge of force and vector analysis (Static's) - basic to most engineering education programs. Basic knowledge of cranes and reading crane charts and data is helpful. On-the-job training is available from staff for this activity.

Turnover and System Checklists - prepare documents and system definitions for transfer of care and custody of completed work to operations group according to established project procedures. Training is available. Familiarity with piping systems and isometric drawing and Process and Instrument Diagrams is essential.

RFI's - Requests for Information (BARS - BP system) - Investigate field trouble issues with design errors or changed field conditions. Propose solutions to installation interferences or material substitutions and document client / operations directives and requests for scope changes and estimate man-hour impacts of the same if applicable.

Drawing Redlines (P&ID) - prepare redline as-installed drawings for submittal.

Constructability Reviews - participate in preliminary and ''Issued for Approval'' engineering package reviews.

Basic Qualifications:

Familiarity with GPB facilities required.

Field experience required.

Planning and organizational skills required.

Computer skills required. Must be proficient with basic Microsoft Office software.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and work with personnel in all levels of an organization.

Must have valid driver's license.

A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

LIFTING: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must display ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals and safety/warning signs. Must display sufficient oral communication skills to be able to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions and task assignments.

ENVIRONMENTAL: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to severe arctic weather conditions.
