Title Gas Processing Engineer


Job Description:
The Dallas office of CH2M Hill has an opening for a Senior Engineer. Candidate must have a minimum of 15 years experience in natural gas compressor design. The Engineer will be responsible for performing analysis, design, and technical support as required for design, construction, and operation of natural gas compressor stations, natural gas processing, and related pipeline facilities.   A chemical or mechanical engineering degree is preferred but other engineering degrees with acceptable experience would be reviewed. Experience with controls and automation, construction management, and natural gas piping systems is a plus. Should have knowledge of federally regulated pipeline systems.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent:          Performs mechanical engineering design for natural gas compressor stations and pipeline facilities.          Participates as a technical advisor on project teams responsible for design, construction, and operation of natural gas compressor stations and pipeline facilities.          Provides direction, oversight, and review of engineering design performed by contract engineering firms. Participates with other engineers in establishing design standards, material specifications, and typical practices          Handles ad hoc requests from client Operations groups and other groups which require expertise in the mechanical engineering discipline.          Travels to field locations regularly. Working Conditions:          Office environment          Periodic visits to field locations with ability to move about industrial facilities, including the use of steps, ladders, and scaffolding in varying weather conditions          Overtime occasionally required and expected, often on short notice or without notice          Tasks often on fixed and tight deadlines for multiple, often simultaneous, projects          Interaction with all levels inside the Company and with customers

Business Group: EG:ENERGY          Minimum 15 years work experience in the design of facilities for high pressure natural gas (compression, processing, or measurement)          Broad knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, and current technologies in the mechanical engineering discipline as applied to natural gas pipeline design          Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and set priorities with contract engineering firms          Strong analytical and problem solving skills          Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively manage priorities during critical deadline driven conditions          Strong computer skills including ability to use Microsoft software applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and ability learn other programs quickly          Self motivated and ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision          Preferred Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:          5+ years work experience in the interstate natural gas pipeline industry          Experienced in selection and application of natural gas compression equipment
